Big Pool is a perfect spot to visit for more than one day, Devils Elbow Campground is a perfect spot to camp nearby, and if you come at the right time of year, Couer d'Alene River - Big North Fork offers some glorious whitewater. You'll in fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining things in the Bitterroot Range. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Coeur d'Alene River, and why not take a       little visit to Ash Creek since you're here. And that's not all you can do here at Big Pool. Long Pool is a nearby lake that you could visit, and going for a hike on the Coeur d'Alene River National Recreation Trail is always a glorious adventure. This lake is so wonderful. The amount of rain that falls at Big Pool is close to the national average; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most snow, and the driest month is July. If you fancy the                  outdoors you'll fancy it here in the Bitterroot Range. A day on the slopes of Silver Mountain is just what you need, and there is a great hiking trail close by called the Spyglass Miners Trail. If you need a spot to stay Silver Mountain Ski & Summer Resort is a fine choice, and on a brilliant day you can take a hike along the Rock City Pond Peak Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Big Hank Campground is a fine local campground, and dry warm beds await you at Baymont Inn & Suites Kellogg. At Big Pool during the summertime highs are in the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's while the cold winter nights at Big Pool are in the 20's.
