Idaho has many beautiful lakes and Big Lake is one of them. Going for a hike on the Batt Trail is always a fine adventure, and lots of folks from Mountain Home come here. The Cedar Tree Trail is a tremendous hiking trail near Big Lake. Big Lake gets very little precipitation; the wettest month of the year is mostly November, that's the one that rains the most while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.

All through the warmest time of the year here at Big Lake, high temperatures regularly get into the 90's; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's; all through the dark hours in the winter at Big Lake temperatures sink to the 20's. Near Big Lake you hit upon the Tindall Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail, and a fine site for whitewater paddling is Bruneau River - West Fork.
