     Bear Lake is always a pleasure to visit. This lake is one of the great places here in the Salmon River Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. A pleasant trip to Little Pony Meadows is a perfect way to spend an afternoon; perfect hiking is available along the South Fork Sheep Creek Trail. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Camp Creek Cutoff Trail, and you can stay the night at Shiefer Campground.
If you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go
 
   whitewater paddling on Salmon River - South Fork, and Chinook Campground is a great campground nearby. So much fun stuff to do in the Salmon River Mountains, not enough time. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Bear Lake; Indian Ridge Trail is a glorious local trail, and Secesh River is a wonderful whitewater spot close by. Throughout the summertime here at Bear Lake, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip  
               down into the 30's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Bear Lake.
If you adore the outdoors, you'll adore Bear Lake. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Brundage Mountain is near Bear Lake. Bear Lake is a good location of typical rainfall; all through January this area sees the most snow, and the driest of the months is July.
