    Why not stop by Bear Lake if you're passing through these parts. Be careful coming to the Salmon River Mountains, you might not ever wanna go home again. You can run the rapids of Secesh River right next door to Bear Lake; the Indian Ridge Trail is a pleasant hiking trail nearby. If you came to camp Shiefer Campground is a delightful site to do that, and everyone loves Little Pony Meadows. This lake is one of the great places here in the Salmon River Mountains.
 
   That right there is a lot of enjoyable things already but it goes on, the Salmon River Mountains has it all. A normal amount of rainfall falls here at Bear Lake; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most snow while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Bear Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Chinook Campground is a fine location for that, and on a nice day  
               you can take a hike along the South Fork Sheep Creek Trail.
Man, is there lots of enjoyable stuff to do close to Bear Lake. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Brundage Mountain, and a splendid place for whitewater paddling is Salmon River - South Fork. High temperatures at Bear Lake through the summertime months are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 30's. During the winter the highs are mostly in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Bear Lake are in the 0's. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to nearby Blue Lake; nearby you stumble on the Camp Creek Cutoff Trail which is a great hiking trail.
