   Lake is a location that is rather waterless regularly; most of the snow falls through January while July is regularly the driest month.
The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 90's to Bear Creek Lake, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Bear Creek Lake. You're in all probability keen on lakes, Knox Lake is one of those close by,
 
               and camping at Blue Point Campground is always a wonderful experience. There's no way anyone can get bored here in the Salmon River Mountains. Have a great hiking adventure along the Switchback Trail, and if you're here at Bear Creek Lake, checking out Landmark Rock is a must.
This lake is so wonderful. Hiking along the Rock Creek Trail is delightful fun; Bear Creek Lake is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Summit Lake Campground is a glorious local campground. So many cool things to do in the Salmon River Mountains, not sufficient time. Bear Creek Lake is right by the Rice Peak Trail, and Johnson Creek has a good whitewater paddling spot close by. This lake is one of the great places here in the Salmon River Mountains.

Blackmare Lake

The trail to Blackmare Lake is in very poor shape. The fire last year weakened the trees and the wind took down many of them. There are several 24-36' logs across the trail preventing horse travel. Hikers can make the trek, but expect to be climbing over a lot of down timber. The trails themselves are not terrible, but they are very loose with decomposed granite sand.
