Going for a hike on the Black Warrior Creek Trail is always a splendid adventure; a trip to The Hole is always a good idea. I can't stop, cause I'm havin' a great time here at Azure Lake. Azure Lake is not the only spot close by, Rock Island Lake is a close by lake. There's so much to do here at Azure Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Powerplant Campground is a great site for that. All year is a good time in the Sawtooth Range if you have a thing
about the outdoors. Good hiking is available along the Hot Springs Creek Trail, and at Azure Lake you can make out Blacknose Mountain.
Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting things in the Sawtooth Range. There are some good whitewater spots on Salmon River; stopping by Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. Azure Lake gets a typical amount of annual precipitation; the month of January is the wettest

with most of the snow, and July is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Yuba River Trail, and if you came to camp Queens River Campground is a brilliant spot to do that.
This lake is so wonderful. Throughout the months of summer at Azure Lake temperatures are commonly in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. Through the winter the highs are generally in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Azure Lake. You could also go to Pats Lake since you're here at Azure Lake; it's nearby, and there's whitewater on Payette River - South Fork for all you adrenaline people.
Azure Lake is a beautiful lake in the Sawtooth Range.

MORE STUFF NEARBY:

Elk Lake
Elk lake is approximately 12 miles from the Grandjean campground. You can not reach it by car. The trail has mild elevation gain and parallels the river during many sections. There are no designated campgrounds at elk lake however 3 spots have obvious use. Deer and elk are commonly viewed near the lake, especially in the early morning or near dusk....

Imogene Lake
12 miles away
Imogene is a beautiful lake with a complex shoreline, worthy of hours of exploration, as are its family of 15 lakes and pools downstream from it....

Hell Roaring Lake
13 miles away
Hi, we (wife and I) walked into the lake the 3rd week of July 2008; we took the unmaintained road to about 200 yards from the trailhead. If you take this in lieu of the walk in, plan on a 40 minute drive to cover 5-miles; your vehicle (should be high-center 4-wd) will get scratched up from the branches adjacent to the road. The parking lot holds 6-vehicles...if you encounter another vehicle coming at you, there are very few areas where you can back into/get off the road to let the other pass; it is a 'long way' to back up on a challenging road. To get to the trail head from the parking lot, you will ford 2-branches of the river/stream (10 ? 20? across)...walk across deadfall with the aid of a walking stick...or walk thru the water...just below the knee. We walked in on a tuesday and encountered 15+ people coming/going on the path. Easy 2-mile walk, many mosquitoes...quicker coming back....
