Going for a hike along the Elk Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood, and in case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Selway River. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at American Hill Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Crooked River Number Three Campground is a delightful place for that, and let's       not forget Baboon Creek which is a stream that you may encounter while you're here. This lake is one of the great places here in the Clearwater Mountains. So much exciting stuff near American Hill Lake, completely mind-boggling. If the weather is good here at American Hill Lake, you can go for a hike along the Anderson Butte National Recreation Trail, and the peak of Mother Lode Hill can be seen from American Hill Lake. American Hill Lake is nice enough to                  spend more than a day at, Crooked River Number Five Campground is a nice local campground, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Fish Lake. You definitely ought to go for the Clearwater Mountains. The Nugget Point Trail is a nice hiking trail in close proximity to American Hill Lake, and of course, this is a glorious region for people who like lakes, Rainbow Lake is a lake around here. Man, is there plenty of amusing things to do in the Clearwater Mountains. Whitewater paddling is great on Lochsa River. At American Hill Lake through the long summer days highs are in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. During the winter highs are regularly in the 30's, and night lows all through the winter for American Hill Lake tend to be in the 20's.
