American Hill Lake is a beautiful lake in the Clearwater Mountains. If you want a great time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Clearwater Mountains. There is a wonderful hiking trail right next door to American Hill Lake called the Elk Creek Trail, and a splendid site to camp here at American Hill Lake is Crooked River Number Three Campground. American Hill Lake is a good place of typical rainfall;       the wettest month of the year is generally January, that's the one that snows the most, and the driest month of the year is July. This lake is so wonderful. Near American Hill Lake you stumble on the Anderson Butte National Recreation Trail which is a perfect hiking trail, and soar down the rapids of Lochsa River in a kayak. Going for a hike on the Nugget Point Trail is always a nice adventure, and the vista of striking Mother Lode Hill is great. Through the warm                  months at American Hill Lake temperatures are typically in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. During the winter highs are commonly in the 30's; after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at American Hill Lake plunge into the 20's. Get covered with water paddling on Selway River, and getting to Baboon Creek from American Hill Lake is painless. You feel that's enough? Just getting warmed up.
