The sight of gorgeous Mother Lode Hill near American Hill Lake is great, and going for a hike on the Nugget Point Trail is always a wonderful adventure. At American Hill Lake during the summertime months highs are in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at American Hill Lake are in the 20's. But wait, there's more to do near American Hill       Lake. There's whitewater on Lochsa River for all you adrenaline junkies. This lake is so wonderful. The Elk Creek Trail is a great hiking trail near American Hill Lake, and if you came for an overnight stay Crooked River Number Three Campground is a brilliant place to camp. So many exciting things to do in the Clearwater Mountains, not sufficient time. There is a good hiking trail in the neighborhood of American Hill Lake called the Anderson Butte National                  Recreation Trail, and there are some pleasant whitewater spots on Selway River. The Clearwater Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Crooked River Number Five Campground is a great campground here, and needless to say Baboon Creek flows through this area.
