Alturas Lake is one of the lakes here in the Sawtooth Range. Pettit Lake is a great lake near Alturas Lake, and you can never get enough of the great skiing at Soldier Mountain Ski Resort. This lake is so wonderful. If you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Salmon River; why not take a little journey to Cabin Creek since you're here. During the warm days of summer here at Alturas       Lake, high temperatures generally reach the 70's. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 30's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's; throughout the dark hours in the winter at Alturas Lake temperatures sink to the-10's. Smoky Bear Campground is a brilliant local campground, and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Yellow Belly Trail. Yep, outdoors entertaining things to do are truly plentiful here at Alturas Lake. Yep, outdoors                  exciting stuff truly is plentiful here in the Sawtooth Range. Alturas Lake is a tremendous place to visit for more than one day, Alturas Inlet Campground is a tremendous place to camp nearby; the Bull Moose Trail is a tremendous hiking trail nearby.
