We visited there today, and the Lucas pond area was nice, but getting around Stephens forest was confusing with little markers to let you know where you were headed was frustrating. Wish we could of had a small road map of the forest, so we could go where it would interest us instead or all over the place. If there is a web site or a place we could write to to get a detailed map of that area would be really nice. Thanks. Next time we visit we will take lots of pics.

The beauty of Stephens Forest Pond attracts many people from all around. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this location. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Super 8 Motel - Indianola/Des Moines Area is a great place to spend a night or two, and if you're interested in hydro structures, you can take a look at Stephens Forest Pond Dam. close to Stephens Forest Pond you'll locate a wooded vicinity called Stephens State Forest - Lucas Unit;

Stay the night at Jericho Hills Campground, and SUPER 8 MOTEL - CHARITON is a nice location to get some rest. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Stephens Forest Pond has to offer, you can camp at Lake Ahquabi State Park; do take a look at West Lake, it's a wonderful lake.
