| | South Twin Lake is a beautiful natural glacial lake. It is unfortunately an endangered lake. The Iowa DNR wants to drain this beautiful natural 600 acre lake and turn it into a mucky bug infested marsh. This lake was originally fed with fresh water from underground springs, but after a mishap in the 1930's during dredging of the it's north twin the lake was filled with silt and the natural springs plugged. If the DNR wished to restore this lake to its true natural state they should attempt to open the natural filtering underground springs.
