All through the winter highs are ordinarily in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Indian Lake are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Indian Lake is not far at all from Keokuk-Fort Madison, and unsurprisingly Big Indian Creek is a pretty stream that is worth checking out. The amount of precipitation that falls at Indian Lake is close to the national average; July is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month of the year is February. The Shimek Forest Trail offers hiking at its best, and camping at Riverview Campground                  is always a tremendous experience. If you need a place to stay Mt. Pleasant Super 8 Motel is a perfect choice, and camping is available at Bentonsport Campground. Shimek Forest Pond Two is a perfect lake next to Indian Lake, and there's great hiking along the Indian Lake Park Trail.   Mt.
