Lots of folks from Ames come to Goose Lake, and a wonderful spot to camp here at Goose Lake is Whispering Oaks Campground. Dry warm beds await you at Story City       Super 8 Motel, and Goose Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Story City Koa Kampground is a great local campground. Goose Lake is a good site of common rain; of all the months in a year June is the one with the most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. Not far from Goose Lake, you'll discover Little Wall Lake which is a pretty lake, and if you come at the right time of year, Briggs Woods Spillway - Ditch 166 offers some nice whitewater.                  High temperatures at Goose Lake throughout the warm months are in the 80's.
