Cedar Lake is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. For the period of the days of summer, highs typically are in the 80's at Cedar Lake, and the nighttime is somewhat chillier of course, commonly in the 60's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Cedar Lake. Stay the night at Dallas County Fair Campgrounds; a wonderful close by hotel is Winterset Super 8 Motel.

| | A round of golf at nearby Lakeview Country Club is a good way to kill some time, and Cedar Lake is a glorious location to camp, Winterset City Park Campground is a glorious location. The annual rainfall here at Cedar Lake is about average; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. After a long day outdoors Village View Motel is a great place to spend a night or two, and get your heart pumping on the fine whitewater of Raccoon River.
