There is a great hiking trail close to Waikai Reservoir called the Nualolo Trail. This lake is so wonderful. On a great day at Waikai Reservoir you can take a hike along the Alakai Swamp Trail; the top of Aawela is easily made out from Waikai Reservoir. Enjoy a lazy day on the beach at Secret Beach, and Kuhumu Reservoir is a splendid lake nearby. While staying at Waikai Reservoir       you could always look at Hanonui Gulch, and if you need a spot to stay Club Intrawest - Kauai is a great choice. Through the long summer days highs here at Waikai Reservoir get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 80's with winter lows in the 60's overnight here at Waikai Reservoir. Waikai Reservoir is pretty arid usually; most of the rain falls through January; the driest                  month is June. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Hanalei, and don't forget to take a fine little tour to Kula River. If the weather is good here at Waikai Reservoir, you can go for a hike along the Mhihi Waialae Trail, and playing golf is lots of fun at Kukuiolono Golf. This lake is so wonderful. Hit the beach if you want, Glass Beach is practically right here, and this is a popular site for people from Kapaa. Man, is there plenty of exciting stuff to do close to Waikai Reservoir.
