Go for a hike on the Mauna Kea Umikoa Trail. Waimea Country Lodge is a splendid spot to get some rest, and wonderful hiking is available along the Hilo Trail. Throughout the days of summer, highs typically are in the 80's at Lake Waiau; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Through the wintertime highs are ordinarily in the 70's, and overnight lows in the 60's for Lake Waiau.       It is very arid here at Lake Waiau typically; through the month of January you get the most rain around here, and July meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. There's good hiking along the Puu Oo Volcano Trail, and during your spree here you'll meet some folks from Hilo for sure.
