Hawaii has many beautiful lakes and Lake Waiau is one of them. Lake Waiau is usually a pretty dried up site; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily January, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month is July. There is a delightful hiking trail right next door to Lake Waiau called the Puu Oo Volcano Trail, and this is a popular site for people from Hilo. During the days of summer at Lake Waiau highs are frequently in the 80's; the nighttime is

High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 70's, and night lows at Lake Waiau during the wintertime mostly fall into the 60's. If you need a place to stay Waimea Country Lodge is a pleasant choice. If the weather is perfect here at Lake Waiau, you can go for a hike along the Mauna Kea Umikoa Trail; from Lake Waiau you get a nice view of Mauna Kea. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Inn at Kulaniapia, and the Hilo Trail is a great hiking trail nearby.
