Near Ipuolono Reservoir you hit upon the Nualolo Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail; a good location for whitewater paddling is Hanalei. Ipuolono Reservoir gets very little precipitation; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain, and June is when it's the driest. Throughout the summer months at Ipuolono Reservoir       temperatures are mostly in the 80's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the period of the wintertime highs are usually in the 80's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Ipuolono Reservoir drop into the 60's. On a good day at Ipuolono Reservoir you can take a hike along the Mhihi Waialae Trail, and you can hit the beach if you want, Palama Beach is practically right here. Elima Reservoir is a splendid lake next to Ipuolono Reservoir, and The Point at Poipu is a splendid spot to get some rest. Secret Beach is close to Ipuolono Reservoir if you're in a beach type of mood. Just can't get enough of Ipuolono Reservoir. A tremendous spot to explore next to Ipuolono Reservoir is Kalaheo Gulch; after a long day outdoors Nihi Kai Villas is a delightful place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful.
