It's always fun to stop by Whitmire Lake. Going for a hike on the Whitly Gap Trail is always a nice adventure, and after a long day outdoors Clermont Hotel is a tremendous site to spend a night or two. From Whitmire Lake you get a great panorama of Hog Mountain, and nearby you stumble on the Raven Cliff Falls Trail which is a nice hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Leisure Acres Campground; people from Gainesville love to come here.

| | This lake is so wonderful. This is no place for people who don’t like to have fun. Dry warm beds await you at Days Inn, and good water scenery is available at Whitmire Lake Dam near Whitmire Lake. You can run the rapids of Little John Creek near Whitmire Lake; Mossy Creek Campground is a fine campground here.
High temperatures at Whitmire Lake through the summer are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's. Daytime highs during the wintertime | |

are in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Whitmire Lake. There's whitewater on Flat Creek for all you thrill seekers, and there are glorious sites to look at along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. Whitmire
Lake sees pretty high levels of rainfall; during the month of March you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is October.
