     Daisy Farms RV Park is a great local campground, and you'll hit upon a delightful lake called Trapnell Pond. If you need a site to stay SpringHill Suites Statesboro University Area is a great choice, and there are plenty of folks from Statesboro here. Yep, outdoors fun stuff to do are beyond doubt abundant here at Whitaker Pond. After a long day outdoors Comfort Inn & Suites is a magnificent site to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Whitaker  
   Pond Dam has good water scenery and it's in close proximity to Whitaker Pond, and if you came for an overnight stay Parkwood RV Park is a great site to camp.
Whitaker Pond generally gets a large amount of rain; July is the month that gets the most rain, and November is the month with the least moisture. Sorrier Branch flows through this vicinity, and a charming lake like Rozier Pond is a fine place to stop by. All through the summer months at Whitaker Pond
 
               temperatures are generally in the 90's with night lows in the 60's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 50's, and overnight lows throughout the wintertime for Whitaker Pond tend to be in the 30's.

Haarley Lake

The subject lake was never named Haarley Lake.

When it was first built, it was named after a guy named Haar who, along with his family was killed in a boating accident. He was president of the Savannah Outboard Motor Racing Association.

After the Association, which built the lake, defaulted on its responsibilities to maintain the dam in good order, its owner Bertie D. Burpitt, changed the name to Burpitt's Lake.

After the death of Mr. Burpitt, and eventual sale of the property, the lake was renamed yet again Lake Loraine, which is its name today.

I know all this because Mr. Burpitt was my grandfather and I was raised on the property since before the lake was constructed....
