The high level of rainfall makes Whippoorwill Lake a rather wet place; through March this area sees the most rain, and October is when it's the driest. You're perhaps into lakes, Mockingbrid Lake is one of those nearby; you can stay the night at F.D. Roosevelt State Park. This lake is so wonderful.
