     Waters Lake is nice enough to spend more than a day at, La Siesta RV Park is a nice local campground; Waters Lake Dam is a place that is in the vicinity of Waters Lake. Throughout the long summer days at Waters Lake highs are mostly in the 80's; the overnight is slightly chillier of course, frequently in the 60's. All through the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Waters Lake. If you haven’t been to Chattahoochee River  
   National Recreation Area, you ought to schedule some time for it since you're here; why not take a look at close by Avery Creek if you're here at Waters Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Comfort Inn Canton is a great spot to get some rest, and not far from Waters Lake you'll find Cagle Lake which is a gorgeous lake.
Waters Lake is a wet place that gets a large amount of rain; March is the wettest month with most rain, and October on the other hand is the driest.
 
               Get your heart beating on the great whitewater of Big Creek, and there are other places here than Waters Lake, for example Blalock Lake. There's so much to do here at Waters Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Marietta Campground is a good location for that, and you can run the rapids of Marsh Creek.
All the outdoors cool stuff in the vicinity of Waters Lake will keep you coming back repeatedly. If you need a site to stay Suburban Extended Stay Woodstock-Atlanta N is a good choice; for you golfers we recommend nearby Bradshaw Farms Golf Course. This lake is so wonderful. Lots of folks from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta come to Waters Lake.

My father had a home in the Echo Lake subdivision in the 1960's and the way I remember what happened to Simmons Lake was that that after Lakeside High School was built the earthen dam that held back Simmons Lake broke and that was pretty much the end of the lake. It wasn't repaired. The small lake next to Briarcliff Road was a separate lake that was fed from Simmons lake and in turn fed Echo Lake. This small lake appears from an aerial photograph to have nearly silted in. The culvert under Briarcliff Road from the small lake to Echo Lake was a favorite haunt for chasing snakes and turtles. I remember Echo Lake being dredged in the 1960's. Back then there was little Echo Lake at the other end of Echo Lake and it no longer exists. Little Echo Lake had a concrete dam that failed a couple of times and I suppose was given up on. The homes in Echo Lake subdivision sold in the 20-25K range. This area was a perfect place for my brother and me to spend summers. Dad told me years later that he wouldn't see us until dinner time in the summer because we spent all day doing things around these la...
