     The fine folks of Toccoa like to hang out nearby, and there's whitewater on Big Panther Creek for all you thrill seekers. This lake is so wonderful. Wards Pond is not the only spot nearby, Watkins Pond is a nearby lake, and the sight of Currahee Mountain is striking. This lake is so wonderful. If you're here at Wards Pond and you like golf, you can stop at Toccoa City Golf Course; you can run the rapids of Nancy Town River. Wards Pond sees pretty high levels of  
   rain; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is October.
A fine nearby hotel is Country Hearth Inn Toccoa. Don't leave Wards Pond without first going for a hike along the Chattooga Trail, and Days Inn Toccoa is a good place to get some rest. There's just no way someone can get bored here at Wards Pond. Good hiking is available along the Bartram Trail, and there's some flowing water close by, Carnes Creek is
 
               a stream you can take a look at while you're here.
Camping is available at Hazel Creek RV Park, and if you've had enough of Wards Pond, North Fork Broad River is nearby. North Fork Broad River Structure Two Dam is stunning and it's in the neighborhood of Wards Pond, and a wonderful place to camp here at Wards Pond is Toccoa Rv Park & Campground. During the warm months at Wards Pond temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. Highs through the winter are commonly in the 40's; nighttime lows at Wards Pond through the wintertime commonly plunge into the 20's.

...re constant except in times of heavy rainfall and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed.
The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates.
Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings.
Over the years sport fishing has been excellent with large mouth Bass, Crappie, Brem, Pike And Catfish, however fishing is limited due to private ownership of property including the lake basin.

Hi!? I am looking for information.? Recently, I have been going thru old black and white photos that belong to my grandmother.? I have several dozen that are dated Easter Sunday, 1945 (April 1st).? I have being attempting determine the location where these pics were taken.? The only thing grandmother can remember is a name:? Panther Creek Park.? She thought it was somewhere around Corniela.? I found this web page while doing a search for it.? I have included some pics.? The most obvious feature in a lot of this photos is a round brick object that people seemed to spend a lot of time lounging around.? I don't know what to actually call it.? Is this the right park??...
