You could also check out Ashurst Pond if you're here at Walker Lake; it's nearby, and paddling on Little River is so much fun. This lake is so wonderful. Some of the water nearby flows, like Dance Branch, and there are plenty of people from Milledgeville here at Walker Lake. If you're here at Walker Lake and you like golf, you can have a look at Uncle Remus Golf Course, and brilliant water scenery is available at Walker Lake Dam in the vicinity of Walker

| | Lake. Walker Lake is not the only site close by, Dodson Pond is a close by lake, and if you came for an overnight stay Lake Oconee Center is a great place to camp.
High temperatures at Walker Lake all through the summer are in the 80's while night lows are generally in the 60's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 50's; night lows through the wintertime for Walker Lake tend to be in the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. Soar down the rapids | |

of Apalachee River in a kayak. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable things at Walker Lake. Why not camp at US Forestry Department while you're here at Walker Lake; a nice nearby hotel is Cuscowilla Golf Resort
on Lake Oconee.
Walker Lake sees pretty high levels of rain; the month with most of the rain is March, and October meanwhile is the driest month. There's tremendous hiking along the Twin Bridges Trail; if you need a site to stay The Lodge On Lake Oconee is a great choice.

Twin Bridges Trail

The Twin Bridges Trail is a bit strenuous and half of it is along the lake. It ends near a hunting camp where trash is dumped by campers. I really wish the trail were longer. USFS needs to consider walk-in camping with a parking area to require campers to walk 1/4 mile to the sites. The gate needs to be locked to the lakeside lots except for hunting season.... |
Little River Park

Little River Park has been totally renovated. The entire infrastructure of the park has been gutted out and replaced with new. We now have 130 FULL HOOK UP sites that provide 20/30/50 AMP service on every site. All sites have cable TV hook-ups also. A laundry facility has been completed with 3 washers/3dryers. A brand new 24 X 30 picnic pavillion was just completed last week. We have 5 docks that provide wet boat storage for our campers. WI FI is coming soon along with a fish cleaning station. Our daily rates are $35 for waterfront and $30 for an interior site. Weekly and long term camping is also available. We have 3 boat ramps, and marine fueling dock. Larry, The portion shown on the map is US441 AND US 129, they are the same from Athens to Eatonton, where 441 continues toward Dublin, and 129 bears right toward Macon, so the map is technically correct....The map is totally wrong. Macon highway is US441, NOT 129 as indicated.... |
