The beauty of Van Orsdal Lake is reason enough to stop by. Through the summer months, highs mostly are in the 80's at Van Orsdal Lake while night lows are mostly in the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 40's with temperatures at Van Orsdal Lake dipping down into the 20's during winter nights. This lake is located in the wonderful Blue Ridge Mountains. All the water falling down from the sky makes Van Orsdal Lake a wet location; the wettest month of the year is mostly March, that's the one that rains the most, and October on the other hand is the driest. Why not explore nearby Big Creek if you're here at Van Orsdal Lake, and get your heart pumping on the splendid whitewater of Toccoa River. Whohoo, so many cool things in one place! Why not take a refreshing hike along the Black Mountain Trail, and camping is available at Skeenah Mill Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Buckeye Mountain is trouble-free to spot from Van Orsdal Lake, and hiking is a popular
thing to do around Van Orsdal Lake; Duncan Ridge Trail is a tremendous local trail. Van Orsdal Lake is not the only spot close by, Bearden Lake is a close by lake. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors exciting things the
Blue Ridge Mountains has to offer. There's magnificent hiking along the Benton Mackaye Trail, and you can run the rapids of Cooper Creek. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors entertaining things the area in the neighborhood
of Van Orsdal Lake has to offer. If you get bored of Van Orsdal Lake, you could also take a look at close by Diamond Lake, and Blue Ridge - Days Inn is a great site to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors
Comfort Inn & Suites is a nice place to spend a night or two; a tremendous spot to camp here at Van Orsdal Lake is Toccoa Valley Campgrounds.

Etowah River Campground
 | 16 miles away I love camping at Etowah River Campground. It is secluded and away from the traffic of the big lakes and Corps of Engineers campgrounds. The owners are VERY friendly and will do anything to make your stay pleasurable. You can hike and ride your ATV nearby, float the Etowah River or just relax. There is no reason to run to town after your arrival. The campsites are also very spacious and roomy, the bath house is clean and well maintained and the grounds are well groomed. I can't wait to go back. It may just be the only place I camp from now on.... |
