Why not stop by Turtle Lake if you're passing through these parts. There's so much to do here at Turtle Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Marietta Campground is a tremendous place for that; after a long day outdoors Sleep Inn is a splendid place to spend a night or two. Summertime highs at Turtle Lake frequently tend to be in the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's. Highs during the wintertime are ordinarily in the 40's with winter
lows in the 20's overnight here at Turtle Lake. A lake close by is Thompson Lake, and Drury Inn And Suites Atlanta Marietta is a good place to get some rest.
All the outdoors cool things in the vicinity of Turtle Lake will keep you coming back over and over. Why not take a look at nearby Bishop Creek if you're here at Turtle Lake, and a visit to Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is recommended. Turtle Lake is a wet site that gets a good deal of

precipitation; March is when you get the most rain here while October is generally the driest month. If you came to camp La Siesta RV Park is a pleasant place to do that, and if you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Rottenwood Creek.
This lake is so wonderful. Here at Turtle Lake you'll perhaps meet some people from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, unsurprisingly you could also check out Thompson Lake if you're here; it's not far at all. This lake is so wonderful. North Fulton Golf Course is a nice golf course close by, and Sope Creek is a delightful whitewater spot close by.

I've lived less than a couple of miles from this lake and I didn't even know it existed until today while looking at google maps of the area around my house. I wonder how many people know about it? I wonder if it's on private property....

No real put in spot because the water is only about 6 inches high. It's not deep enough to move. It's literally a stagnant cesspool now. Be afraid. 7-6-2008...

Simmons Lake
13 miles away
Just thought you should know this, but Simmons Lake essentially doesn't exist anymore. I'm an Atlanta native who grew up in DeKalb County and attended Lakeside High School; back when I was a teenager I saw work done on the neighboring Echo Lake, which is surrounded by nice middle-class homes. From what I can tell, the lake was dredged, I guess in order to save it, and Simmons Lake (across Briarcliff Road) was essentially sacrificed for its sake, taking the excess silt from Echo Lake. There's still a small pond there, quite shallow, in the areas closet to Briarcliff Road and Echo Lake, but nothing like what I once knew; over the years even the trees and undergrowth have reclaimed most of the area the lake had once covered when I was a boy...
