     There are plenty of people from Cornelia here at Turk Lake, and hey, Webb Creek is a splendid local stream. Turk Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Lumber Jacks Camping Resort is a fine local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Why not go to Turk Lake Dam since you're here, and dry warm beds await you at Comfort Suites Commerce. At Turk Lake during the warm months highs are in the 80's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 60's. The wintertime  
   comes with highs in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Turk Lake.
This is no spot for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Reservoir 44 is a nearby lake that you could go to, and glide down the rapids of Nancy Town River in a kayak. While you're here at Turk Lake, you could also go to gorgeous Harden Lake, and if you need a place to stay Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites COMMERCE-TANGER OUTLETS is a fine choice. A good location
 
               to camp here at Turk Lake is Commerce Koa Kampground; get wet paddling on North Oconee River.
Turk Lake is a relatively wet place commonly with a large amount of rainfall; most of the rain falls through March, and October is when it's the driest.

... of heavy rainfall and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed.
The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates.
Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings.
Over the years sport fishing has been excellent with large mouth Bass, Crappie, Brem, Pike And Catfish, however fishing is limited due to private ownership of property including the lake basin.
