    What a nice lake Trophy Lake is. Knights Inn Richmond Hills is a good site to get some rest; Hinesville Oxidation Pond is a great lake nearby. If you need a site to stay Best Western Richmond Hill Inn is a great choice, and people from Hinesville-Fort Stewart love to come here. Whohoo, so many amusing things in one place! Trophy Lake is unbeatable! Trophy Lake Dam is a charming spot next to Trophy Lake.
For the period of the summer months at Trophy Lake
 
   highs are commonly in the 90's with nighttime lows in the 70's. Through the winter highs are in the 60's while Trophy Lake nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes? Sure, Upper Lake George is in the neighborhood. There's so much to do here at Trophy Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Sunshine Lake Campground is a tremendous place for that. Lots of precipitation falls at Trophy Lake; the wettest  
               month of the year is ordinarily July, that's the one that rains the most, and October is the month with the least moisture.
Getting to Jerico Creek from Trophy Lake is painless; if you came to camp Savannah South KOA is a delightful location to do that.

The subject lake was never named Haarley Lake.

When it was first built, it was named after a guy named Haar who, along with his family was killed in a boating accident. He was president of the Savannah Outboard Motor Racing Association.

After the Association, which built the lake, defaulted on its responsibilities to maintain the dam in good order, its owner Bertie D. Burpitt, changed the name to Burpitt's Lake.

After the death of Mr. Burpitt, and eventual sale of the property, the lake was renamed yet again Lake Loraine, which is its name today.

I know all this because Mr. Burpitt was my grandfather and I was raised on the property since before the lake was constructed....
