There's whitewater on Big Clouds Creek for all you adrenaline kick people. Go for a hike on the Scull Shoals Trail; Pine Lake RV Campground is a great campground nearby. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Thompson Lake, and the nighttime is a tad chillier of course, usually in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 50's while the cold winter       nights at Thompson Lake are in the 20's. Oconee River Campground and Picnic Area is a fine local campground; while you're here you will meet lots of people from close by Athens-Clarke County. You believe that's enough? Just getting warmed up. There is a tremendous hiking trail near Thompson Lake called the Falling Camp Trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Rose Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from                  Thompson Lake, you'll locate Pettit Lake which is a wonderful lake, and going for a hike on the Mounds Trail is always a fine adventure. The scenery at Thompson Lake Dam next to Thompson Lake is scenic, and dry warm beds await you at Comfort Suites Athens. If you need a place to stay Holiday Inn Athens,Ga is a nice choice. Lakes? Sure, Benny Meyers Lake is close at hand.
