Whitewater paddling is great on Rose Creek. Paddling on Big Clouds Creek is so much fun; if the weather is brilliant, you can go for a hike along the Falling Camp Trail. This lake is so wonderful. A good place to camp here at Thompson Lake is Pine Lake RV Campground, and the Mounds Trail is a great hiking trail nearby. Pettit Lake is a nearby lake that you       could stop by, and the friendly people of Athens-Clarke County like to hang out nearby. But wait, there's more to do in close proximity to Thompson Lake. Thompson Lake is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, Oconee River Campground and Picnic Area is a brilliant local campground, and Comfort Suites Athens is a great spot to get some rest. A good deal of rain falls at Thompson Lake; March is when you get the most rain here while September is frequently                  the driest month. A lake close by is Twin Lakes; Thompson Lake Dam is an exciting thing to check out.
