Why not camp at Pine Lake RV Campground since you're here at Thompson Lake, and the Scull Shoals Trail is a perfect hiking trail close by. If you want a perfect time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Thompson Lake. A good place to camp here at Thompson Lake is Oconee River Campground and Picnic Area, and Comfort Suites Athens is a nice spot to get some rest. Thompson Lake generally gets       a good deal of precipitation; the wettest month of the year is commonly March, that's the one that rains the most while September is mostly the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Get dripping wet paddling on Rose Creek; you're sure to bump into some nice folks from Athens-Clarke County here. High temperatures at Thompson Lake through the summer are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 60's. Highs during the winter are                  regularly in the 50's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Thompson Lake temperatures drop to the 20's. Thompson Lake Dam is a scenic site next to Thompson Lake, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Falling Camp Trail. Drift down the rapids of Big Clouds Creek in a kayak.
