     There are plenty of folks from Toccoa here at Steel Lake, and Steel Lake is right by the Bartram Trail. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this location. If you come at the right time of year, Brasstown Creek offers some delightful whitewater; Hazel Creek RV Park is a good local campground. Float down the rapids of Big Panther Creek in a kayak, and the Chattooga Trail offers hiking at its best. A nice nearby hotel is Country Hearth Inn Toccoa; from Steel Lake  
   you acquire a great view of Rock Quarry Mountain.
For the duration of the days of summer, highs usually are in the 80's at Steel Lake. All through the moonlight hours it's typically in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 50's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Steel Lake. If you came for an overnight stay Toccoa Rv Park & Campground is a perfect place to camp; while you're here and you like golf, you can visit Toccoa City Golf Course.
 
               Steel Lake sees pretty high levels of rain; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and October on the other hand is the driest.
This lake is so wonderful. If you get bored of Steel Lake, you could also visit close by North Fork Broad River, and there's some exciting stuff to see at North Fork Broad River Structure Three Dam next to Steel Lake. Collins Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop by. This lake is so wonderful. Days Inn Toccoa is a nice place to get some rest, and let's not forget Carnes Creek which is a stream that you may encounter during your stay.

The shorelines are constant except in times of heavy rainfall and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed.
The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates.
Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings.
Over the years sport fishing has been excellent with large mouth Bass, Crappie, Brem, Pike And Catfish, however fishing is limited due to private ownership of property including the lake basin.

Hi!? I am looking for information.? Recently, I have been going thru old black and white photos that belong to my grandmother.? I have several dozen that are dated Easter Sunday, 1945 (April 1st).? I have being attempting determine the location where these pics were taken.? The only thing grandmother can remember is a name:? Panther Creek Park.? She thought it was somewhere around Corniela.? I found this web page while doing a search for it.? I have included some pics.? The most obvious feature in a lot of this photos is a round brick object that people seemed to spend a lot of time lounging around.? I don't know what to actually call it.? Is this the right park??...
