If you need a location to stay Days Inn Gray is a great choice, and camping is available at Lake Juliette Dames Ferry Park. This lake is so wonderful. People from Macon love to come to Steed Lake, and don't leave Steed Lake without first going for a hike along the Ocmulgee River Trail. All the water falling down from the sky makes Steed Lake a wet site; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain while October is the month with the least

Now, you may think that's a heap but there's even more amusing stuff to do here at Steed Lake. There's nice hiking along the Kinnard Horse Trail, and why not camp at Forsyth Koa Kampground while you're here at Steed Lake. At Steed Lake during the warm months highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. During the wintertime the | |

highs are usually in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Steed Lake are in the 30's. Dry warm beds await you at Homewood Suites by Hilton MaconNorth, and if you're here, you could also pop by pretty Piedmont Wildlife Lake.
An interesting thing to have a look at in the neighborhood of Steed Lake is Steed Lake Dam, and do have a look at Allisons Lake, it's a scenic lake. Go for a hike on the Allison Lake Wildlife Trail; Ocmulgee National Monument is a very great place to take a look at.

Lake Tobesofkee
 | 17 miles away Lake Tobesofkee is an excellent get-away for PWC riding and just ''hanging out'' with friends and family. Very clean beaches, picnic and camping areas, my experiences over the past three years have been nothing but positive. Friendly and knowledgable employees, Rangers and visitors, Lake Tobo is definitely a top place to enjoy the warm Georgia weather for a weekend or weekday.... |

Twin Bridges Trail
 | 19 miles away The Twin Bridges Trail is a bit strenuous and half of it is along the lake. It ends near a hunting camp where trash is dumped by campers. I really wish the trail were longer. USFS needs to consider walk-in camping with a parking area to require campers to walk 1/4 mile to the sites. The gate needs to be locked to the lakeside lots except for hunting season.... |
