Visiting Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is just something you need to do if you haven't yet, and there are plenty of people from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta here. Starnes Lake is a wet place that gets a large amount of rain; all through the month of March you get the most rain around here; September is when it's the driest. If you get bored of Starnes Lake, you could also go to close by Seagraves Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Doubletree Hotel Atlanta/AlpharettaWindward. Get dripping wet paddling on Big Creek. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Starnes Lake has to offer, you can camp at Jones RV Park. Any time is a good time | |

at Starnes Lake if you adore the outdoors. Starnes Lake is near Starnes Dam which is a beautiful place definitely worth taking a look at, and golf can be played at Crooked Creek Golf Club. This lake is so wonderful. There is a tremendous
hiking trail in the vicinity of Starnes Lake called the Brookshire Creek Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Twin Lakes Park, and Oakwood at Camden Deerfield is a splendid spot to get some rest. Starnes Lake is not the only spot nearby, Lake Providence is a nearby lake, and glide down the rapids of Marsh Creek in a kayak.

Simmons Lake
 | 16 miles away My father had a home in the Echo Lake subdivision in the 1960's and the way I remember what happened to Simmons Lake was that that after Lakeside High School was built the earthen dam that held back Simmons Lake broke and that was pretty much the end of the lake. It wasn't repaired. The small lake next to Briarcliff Road was a separate lake that was fed from Simmons lake and in turn fed Echo Lake. This small lake appears from an aerial photograph to have nearly silted in. The culvert under Briarcliff Road from the small lake to Echo Lake was a favorite haunt for chasing snakes and turtles. I remember Echo Lake being dredged in the 1960's. Back then there was little Echo Lake at the other end of Echo Lake and it no longer exists. Little Echo Lake had a concrete dam that failed a couple of times and I suppose was given up on. The homes in Echo Lake subdivision sold in the 20-25K range. This area was a perfect place for my brother and me to spend summers. Dad told me years later that he wouldn't see us until dinner time in the summer because we spent all day doing things around these la... |
