Spring Lake is a great place to visit for more than one day, Heritage Mobile Home Community is a great place to camp nearby, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Turkey Creek Hiking Trail. place to spend a night or two, and you can stay the night at Byron Mobile Home and Camper. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to nearby Idlewylde Lake, and a splendid site for whitewater paddling is Savannah
River. Spring Lake is a spot with many visitors from Augusta-Richmond County; if you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Stevens Creek. Through the warm days of summer, highs generally
are in the 90's at Spring Lake. Throughout the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 60's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Spring Lake. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Spring Lake you can play some golf at Forest Hills Golf Club.

 | There are two open spillway dams between the Hwy 28 (Fury's Ferry) Bridge and I-20: Stevens Creek Dam (at the confluence of Stevens Creek) and the Augusta Canal Diversion Dam (about a mile downstream of Stevens Creek Dam). There are no marked access points immediately on either side of either dam. Georgia Power Co. operates an electric generating facility on the Georgia (south) bank at Stevens Creek. At the Canal, since the canal immediately parallels the river some twenty feet above it, there is no river access whatsoever on the Georgia side. Portage would be recommended along private land on the South Carolina side of both dams.... |
