Stay the night at Sunset Campground, and a fine spot for whitewater paddling is Nancy Town River. Sosby Pond generally gets a lot of rain; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and October meanwhile is the driest month. Whiten Pond is a nearby lake that you could have a look at, and you can run the rapids of Rice Creek. Some nearby water includes Whiten Creek, and if you get bored of Sosby Pond you could also have a look at close by Thurmond

| | Pond. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Knights Inn & Suites Toccoa is a glorious choice, and Toccoa Rv Park & Campground is a glorious campground nearby. So much fun stuff close to Sosby Pond, absolutely tremendous. A good close by hotel is Days Inn Toccoa; this is a popular spot for people from Toccoa. Throughout the days of summer at Sosby Pond highs are ordinarily in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. | |

During the wintertime highs are usually in the 50's, and night lows at Sosby Pond during the wintertime usually dip into the 20's.

Stonecypher Lake
 | ...ted on the farm lands of Palmer Simpson Stonecypher and was constructed in the mid 1950's. The shorelines are constant except in times of heavy rainfall and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed. The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates. Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings. Over the years sport fishing has been excellent with large mouth Bass, Crappie, Brem, Pike And Catfish, however fishing is limited due to private ownership of property including the lake basin.  | 18 miles away 1 PHOTO Hi!? I am looking for information.? Recently, I have been going thru old black and white photos that belong to my grandmother.? I have several dozen that are dated Easter Sunday, 1945 (April 1st).? I have being attempting determine the location where these pics were taken.? The only thing grandmother can remember is a name:? Panther Creek Park.? She thought it was somewhere around Corniela.? I found this web page while doing a search for it.? I have included some pics.? The most obvious feature in a lot of this photos is a round brick object that people seemed to spend a lot of time lounging around.? I don't know what to actually call it.? Is this the right park??... |
