The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Smith Lake gets a great deal of water; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain, and October is the month with the least moisture. Nearby lakes? Sure, Lake Arthur is near Smith Lake, and a glorious place to camp here at Smith Lake is Jenny's Creek Campground. Now, you may think that's loads but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here in       the Blue Ridge Mountains. Visit Chateen Creek while you're here at Smith Lake, and if you need a place to stay Holiday Inn Express Dahlonega, Georgia is a nice choice. Not far from Smith Lake you get some perfect water scenery at Smith Lake Dam; dry warm beds await you at Cleveland Days Inn. This lake is so wonderful. Take a hike on the Raven Cliff Falls Trail, and camping at Gold 'n Gem Grubbin' Campground is always a perfect experience. Summer brings                  highs in the 80's to Smith Lake. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 40's; after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Smith Lake plunge into the 20's. Whohoo, so many entertaining things in one place! The Blue Ridge Mountains is great! Here at Smith Lake you'll probably meet some folks from Gainesville; there are some perfect whitewater spots on Chestatee River. But wait, there's more to do next to Smith Lake. If you come at the right time of year, Tesnatee Creek offers some perfect whitewater, and Smith Lake is right by the Whitly Gap Trail. This lake is so wonderful.
