Don't leave Smith Lake without first paying a visit to Toccoa Falls; why not spend some time golfing at a close by golf course like Toccoa City Golf Course. River Dam Number One near Smith Lake is charming, and you can stay the night at Toccoa Rv Park & Campground. All through the days of summer here at Smith Lake, high temperatures mostly get into the 80's, and the nighttime is fairly
cooler of course, typically in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Smith Lake. Do take a look at Barnes Lake near Smith Lake, it's a beautiful lake.
There's so much to do here at Smith Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Hazel Creek RV Park is a great spot for that. Smith Lake frequently gets much precipitation; March is the wettest month with most rain while October
is typically the driest month. In the event that you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Big Panther Creek, and at Smith Lake you always meet someone from Toccoa.

 | ...ll and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed. The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates. Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings. Over the years sport fishing has been excellent with large mouth Bass, Crappie, Brem, Pike And Catfish, however fishing is limited due to private ownership of property including the lake basin. The shorelines and surounding hills are populated with native hardwoods and pine, creating scenery which is unsurpassed in the area. Wild turkey, deer, beaver, groundhog,cayote, fox, rabbit and squirrel inhabit the area as well ... |

I have several dozen that are dated Easter Sunday, 1945 (April 1st).? I have being attempting determine the location where these pics were taken.? The only thing grandmother can remember is a name:? Panther Creek Park.? She thought it was somewhere around Corniela.? I found this web page while doing a search for it.? I have included some pics.? The most obvious feature in a lot of this photos is a round brick object that people seemed to spend a lot of time lounging around.? I don't know what to actually call it.? Is this the right park??... |
