If you are in White county it's always a good idea to stop by Sims Lake. Sims Lake gets a large amount of water; through the month of March you get the most rain around here, and October meanwhile is the driest month. Camping is available at Union Grove Campground. Sure, Webster Lake is
just a very short distance away.

If the weather is perfect here at Sims Lake, you can go for a hike along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and

a perfect location is The Shoals.
This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of Chattahoochee River in the vicinity of Sims Lake, obviously you could also check out Glass Pond since you're here; it's not far at all. High temperatures at Sims Lake through the months of summer are in the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's. Highs all through the winter are usually in the 40's; overnight lows in the 20's for Sims Lake. Why not camp at Mossy Creek Campground while you're here at Sims Lake, and there's whitewater on Mossy Creek for all you adrenaline people.

Leisure Acres Campground
We stayed at this campground in October 2005. It is nice camp ground and very reasonable with the cost. Grounds are well keep and it is neat and orderly. I intend to stay there this coming october. I would recommend it....

Lake Qualatchee
11 miles away
I notice that there is a Lake Qualatchee a few miles northwest of Cleveland, Georgia. I have never visited the site. Bartram's list of Cherokee towns included a ''Qualatche,'' but it was reportedly on the Flint River, too far away to have a connection with this lake. But, Mooney says a town called Qualatchee was somewhere on the headwaters of the Chattahoochee River. Not much else seems to have been written about the town, and I am not yet sure how the lake came to have its name....

Sleepy Hollow Campground
13 miles away
It's the nicest most group friendly place that we've ever stayed. I bring a group of kids up every summer and they always have a great time...

Raven Cliff Falls Trail
14 miles away
The family hiked to Raven Cliff Falls on 2/15/09. It is 2.5 miles one way and is fairly level with a slight uphill slope. It follows a creek for most of the way passing several smaller scenic falls. The main feature is a towering cliff with the falls dropping between a slot in the cliffs. Very impressive and worth the 5 mile hike....

Enota Resort and Campground
19 miles away
... trout in the pond in front of the Lodge The land is pristine, laced with waterfalls and streams totally accessible to both RV camping (full hook-ups) or tent camping. The cabins are rustically charming and recently more modern motel-type rooms have been added within view of the waterfall. Some of the structures on this property are CCC-built and the staff also honors Enota's Cherokee heritage as well, with a sweat lodge, sacred circle, drumming and the occasional Native American presenter, who happened to be leading the Sweat Lodge ceremonies when we were there this spring. We discovered that Enota is a non-profit ecological and teaching facility as well, and we campers and cabin folk mingle at the weekend breakfasts in the Lodge with the staff and the volunteers who help run the campgrounds, the gardens or the animal farm. This campground has newly remodeled restrooms and plentiful showers and also has trampolines for the kids (and me!) We were there as a church retreat group was departing and they had a big group sing the evening before in the newly-enclosed pavilion. Occasional...
