If you are traveling by, why not stop by Shore Pond. Through the warm days of summer here at Shore Pond, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 60's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 40's while Shore Pond night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 20's. | | Scenic Trail is always a delightful adventure. Shore Pond sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is March; the driest month is October. Barrett Pond is a fine lake next to Shore Pond; if you need a site to stay Cornelia-Days Inn is a delightful choice. This lake is so wonderful. You clearly have to have a thing about Shore Pond. a nice little trip to North Fork Mud Creek. A pleasant spot for whitewater paddling close to Shore Pond is Chattahoochee River, and why not camp at Mountain Creek Grove Nudist while you're here at Shore Pond. The Raven Cliff Falls
Trail is a splendid hiking trail next to Shore Pond, and a pleasant location to camp here at Shore Pond is Union Grove Campground. This lake is so wonderful. There are other places here than Shore Pond, for example Ferguson Pond, and there is a magnificent hiking trail close by called the Whitly Gap Trail.

Lake Qualatchee
 | 15 miles away I notice that there is a Lake Qualatchee a few miles northwest of Cleveland, Georgia. I have never visited the site. Bartram's list of Cherokee towns included a ''Qualatche,'' but it was reportedly on the Flint River, too far away to have a connection with this lake. But, Mooney says a town called Qualatchee was somewhere on the headwaters of the Chattahoochee River. Not much else seems to have been written about the town, and I am not yet sure how the lake came to have its name.... |

I have several dozen that are dated Easter Sunday, 1945 (April 1st).? I have being attempting determine the location where these pics were taken.? The only thing grandmother can remember is a name:? Panther Creek Park.? She thought it was somewhere around Corniela.? I found this web page while doing a search for it.? I have included some pics.? The most obvious feature in a lot of this photos is a round brick object that people seemed to spend a lot of time lounging around.? I don't know what to actually call it.? Raven Cliff Falls Trail
 | 17 miles away The family hiked to Raven Cliff Falls on 2/15/09. It is 2.5 miles one way and is fairly level with a slight uphill slope. It follows a creek for most of the way passing several smaller scenic falls. The main feature is a towering cliff with the falls dropping between a slot in the cliffs. Very impressive and worth the 5 mile hike.... |
