There's always Shields Lake Dam to stop at close to Shields Lake, and a pleasant close by hotel is Key West Inn La Fayette. Shields Lake sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain; October is when it's the driest. At Shields Lake all through       the months of summer highs are in the 80's while overnight lows are regularly in the 60's. All through the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Shields Lake are in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Shields Lake, you'll stumble on Whaley Lake which is a pretty lake; on a delightful day you can take a hike along the Bluff Trail. Near Shields Lake you locate Long Hollow which is a tremendous place to                  stop by, and Shields Lake is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Best Holiday Trav-l-park is a glorious local campground. Playing golf is lots of fun at High Point Golf Course, and if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Crawfish Creek. Whitewater paddling is perfect on Bear Creek. This lake is so wonderful. There is a fine hiking trail near Shields Lake called the Hardy Trail, and if you need a spot to stay Econo Lodge Chickamauga is a magnificent choice. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Shields Lake. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at nearby Krystal Lake.
