Sardis Campground is a fine campground nearby; obviously, this is a perfect region for folks who like lakes, Boyle Lake Number Five is a lake close at hand. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Sheppard Lake you can take a hike along the       Allison Lake Wildlife Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Ocmulgee River Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Alcovy River. Sheppard Lake is a wet location that gets a large amount of precipitation; throughout March this area sees the most rain; the driest of the months is September. The warmest time of the year at Sheppard Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's                  while nighttime lows are frequently in the 60's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Sheppard Lake. Hiking along the Kinnard Horse Trail is magnificent fun, and there are some great whitewater spots on South River. But wait, there's more to do near Sheppard Lake.
