The beauty of Shephard Lake is reason enough to stop by. This lake is so wonderful. Covington Days Inn is a wonderful place to get some rest, and in the neighborhood of Shephard Lake you come across a golf course called Woodlake Golf Club. Cornish Mountain is clearly visible from Shephard Lake; some of the water nearby flows, like Little Cornish Creek. The high level of rain makes Shephard Lake a reasonably wet place; March is the wettest month with most rain;

High temperatures at Shephard Lake through the days of summer are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Shephard Lake. Alcovy River has a glorious whitewater paddling spot close by, and Shephard Lake is a good site to camp, Mount Bethel Campground is a good site. Yep, outdoors cool stuff to do are beyond doubt bountiful here at Shephard Lake. Why not stop at Shephard Dam while you're here, and whitewater paddling is fine on Hard Labor Creek.
