     Reservoir 33 is a nearby lake that you could stop by, and hey, Clarks Creek is a splendid local stream. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Rice Creek; you'll most likely meet some folks from Toccoa here. So many entertaining things near Shady Lake, absolutely tremendous. Camping at Poplar Springs Campgrounds is always a pleasant experience, and after a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites LAVONIA  
   is a wonderful location to spend a night or two. For the period of the summer at Shady Lake temperatures are typically in the 80's, and the overnight is fairly cooler of course, commonly in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's with temperatures at Shady Lake dipping down into the 20's during winter nights.
Shady Lake is a wet site that gets a large amount of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is March, and October
 
               is the month with the least moisture. A good place to camp here at Shady Lake is Sunset Campground; get your heart beating on the nice whitewater of Shoal Creek. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Sleep Inn Lavonia is a fine choice, and a lake nearby is Reservoir Four.

...ccoa Ga in the foothills of the Smokie Mountains. It is fed by Freeman Creek, McAvoy Branch and Coe Branch.
This lake is located on the farm lands of Palmer Simpson Stonecypher and was constructed in the mid 1950's.
The shorelines are constant except in times of heavy rainfall and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed.
The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates.
Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings.
