A wonderful site to camp here at Sanford Lake is Marietta Campground, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Brookshire Creek Trail. And if that's not enough, there's a load more to do near Sanford Lake. Bradshaw Farms Golf Course is a magnificent golf course nearby; if you need a site to stay Holiday Inn ATLANTA/ROSWELL is a great choice. | | dip down into the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's with temperatures at Sanford Lake dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights. Sanford Lake is a pretty wet place frequently with lots of rain; all through March this area sees the most rain; the driest of the months is October.

scenery at Tharp Lake Dam near Sanford Lake is striking; Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is a great national park. This lake is so wonderful. There are plenty of people from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta here at Sanford
Lake, and you can run the rapids of Marsh Creek.
There are other spots here than Sanford Lake, for example Stanford Lake; dry warm beds await you at Best Western Roswell Suites. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at La Siesta RV Park if you're here at Sanford Lake.

Simmons Lake

My father had a home in the Echo Lake subdivision in the 1960's and the way I remember what happened to Simmons Lake was that that after Lakeside High School was built the earthen dam that held back Simmons Lake broke and that was pretty much the end of the lake. It wasn't repaired. The small lake next to Briarcliff Road was a separate lake that was fed from Simmons lake and in turn fed Echo Lake. This small lake appears from an aerial photograph to have nearly silted in. The culvert under Briarcliff Road from the small lake to Echo Lake was a favorite haunt for chasing snakes and turtles. I remember Echo Lake being dredged in the 1960's. Back then there was little Echo Lake at the other end of Echo Lake and it no longer exists. Little Echo Lake had a concrete dam that failed a couple of times and I suppose was given up on. The homes in Echo Lake subdivision sold in the 20-25K range. This area was a perfect place for my brother and me to spend summers.
