Hardeman Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at; Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail is one of the destinations that are good to go to nearby. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on South River. Yellow River has a pleasant whitewater paddling spot close by, and S H Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Mc Dondugh Koa Kampground is a great local campground. Through the warmest

| | time of the year at S H Lake temperatures are mostly in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 50's, and nighttime lows in the 30's for S H Lake.

you need to camp here for a while, Shingle Roof Campground is a perfect location for that. All the water falling down from the sky makes S H Lake a wet site; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest
of the months is September.
This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Country Inn & Suites By Carlson McDonough is a delightful spot to spend a night or two; Cotton Fields Golf Club is a golf course nearby.

Putting in at Killian Hill Rd , the best white water is just down river from HWY 78 to the Yellow River Park. Beyond the park is unknown territory....Yellow river at Poterdale can get pretty tough after a good rain. Bring your A game!...water from 124 to porterdale is about 3 feet average in the summertime. lots of fun. easy river. clean too. lots of fallen trees in the water, great wildlife, snakes, turtles and fish. the dam in porterdale is easily passed adn the rapids following are verry shallow. email at coadydraven@yahoo.com with questions.... |
