Very good water scenery is available at Ricketts Lake Dam near Ricketts Lake; hiking is a popular thing to do around Ricketts Lake; Whitly Gap Trail is a perfect local trail. Through the summertime, highs generally are in the 80's at Ricketts Lake. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 60's. For the period of the wintertime highs are mostly in the 40's;       after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Ricketts Lake sink into the 20's. Ricketts Lake is one of the lakes here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Playing golf is lots of fun at Nicklaus Golf Club at Birch River, and don't leave Ricketts Lake without first going for a hike along the Black Mountain Trail. Get soaked paddling on Yahoola Creek, and some of the water nearby flows, like Left Fork Cavenders Creek. And if that's not enough there's                  a lot more entertaining stuff to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Three Sisters Mountain is pretty and can be spotted from Ricketts Lake, and camping at Crisson Campground is always a pleasant experience. All the water falling down from the sky makes Ricketts Lake a wet place; the month with most of the rain is March while October is regularly the driest month. Good hiking is available along the DeSoto Falls Trail, and if you need a location to stay Holiday Inn Express DAHLONEGA is a splendid choice. What a location this is for outdoors folks.
