Reservoir Number One is close to North Broad River Structure Number One Dam which is a pretty spot certainly worth checking out, and you're sure to come across some friendly people from Toccoa here. A tremendous place for whitewater paddling right next door to Reservoir Number One is Rice Creek, of course you could also go to Reservoir 15 while you're here; it's not far at all.  | ...es are constant except in times of heavy rainfall and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed. The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates. Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings. Over the years sport fishing has been excellent with large mouth Bass, Crappie, Brem, Pike And Catfish, however fishing is limited due to private ownership of property including the lake basin. I have several dozen that are dated Easter Sunday, 1945 (April 1st).? I have being attempting determine the location where these pics were taken.? The only thing grandmother can remember is a name:? Panther Creek Park.? She thought it was somewhere around Corniela.? I found this web page while doing a search for it.? I have included some pics.? The most obvious feature in a lot of this photos is a round brick object that people seemed to spend a lot of time lounging around.? I don't know what to actually call it.? Is this the right park??... |
