Reservoir 44 is a fine site to visit for more than one day, Lumber Jacks Camping Resort is a fine site to camp nearby, and Sanders Lake is a pleasant lake close by. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. Golf can be played at Sandy Creek Golf Course Eagle, and hey, Crooked Creek is a magnificent local stream. Nancy Town River is a glorious whitewater spot next to Reservoir 44; dry warm beds await you at Days Inn Commerce. You'll meet a lot

| | of people from Cornelia here; Hampton Inn Commerce is a great place to get some rest. Reservoir 44 sees pretty high levels of rain; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. So much amusing stuff to do at Reservoir 44, so little time. Commerce Koa Kampground is a nice local campground; not far from Reservoir 44 you get some good water scenery at Harden Lake Dam. place for whitewater paddling in close proximity to Reservoir 44 is North Oconee River; there are other places here than Reservoir 44, for example Harden Lake. High temperatures at Reservoir 44 through the long summer days are in
the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are mostly in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Reservoir 44.

Stonecypher Lake
 | 17 miles away ...vate lake located 5 miles south of Toccoa Ga in the foothills of the Smokie Mountains. It is fed by Freeman Creek, McAvoy Branch and Coe Branch. This lake is located on the farm lands of Palmer Simpson Stonecypher and was constructed in the mid 1950's. The shorelines are constant except in times of heavy rainfall and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed. The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates. Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings.
