Getting to Fry Branch from Reservoir 36 is uncomplicated; there are some good whitewater spots on Tallulah River. After a long day outdoors Best Western Cornelia Inn is a pleasant place to spend a night or two, and since you're here you will meet lots of folks from close by Cornelia. This lake is so wonderful. Near Reservoir 36 you discover the Bartram Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail, and if you come at the right time of year, Big Panther Creek offers

| | some nice whitewater. Reservoir 36 gets a good deal of water; March is the month that gets the most rain, and October is the month with the least moisture. This place, Reservoir 36, it absolutely has so much outdoors amusing stuff. Nearby lakes? Sure, Waters Lake is in the neighborhood of Reservoir 36; magnificent water scenery is available at Waters Lake Dam in the vicinity of Reservoir 36. 36; during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 40's with temperatures at Reservoir 36 dipping down into the 20's throughout winter nights. If you came to camp Panther Creek Campground
is a good location to do that. You could also go to Reservoir 34 since you're here at Reservoir 36; it's close by, and going for a hike on the Chattooga Trail is always a pleasant adventure. Camping at Pa's Fresh water Campground
is always a magnificent experience, and you can hit the slopes at Sky Valley nearby. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a spot to stay Country Hearth Inn Toccoa is a pleasant choice; if you're a golfer then a perfect nearby course is Apple Mountain Golf Club.

 | 1 PHOTO Hi!? I am looking for information.? Recently, I have been going thru old black and white photos that belong to my grandmother.? I have several dozen that are dated Easter Sunday, 1945 (April 1st).? I have being attempting determine the location where these pics were taken.? The only thing grandmother can remember is a name:? Panther Creek Park.? She thought it was somewhere around Corniela.? I found this web page while doing a search for it.? I have included some pics.? The most obvious feature in a lot of this photos is a round brick object that people seemed to spend a lot of time lounging around.? I don't know what to actually call it.? Stonecypher Lake
 | 12 miles away ...ls of the Smokie Mountains. It is fed by Freeman Creek, McAvoy Branch and Coe Branch. This lake is located on the farm lands of Palmer Simpson Stonecypher and was constructed in the mid 1950's. The shorelines are constant except in times of heavy rainfall and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed. The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates. Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings. Over the years sport fishing has been excellent with large mouth Bass, Crappie, Brem, Pike And Catfish, however fishing is limited due to private ownership of proper... |
