Lake Qualatchee
12 miles away
I notice that there is a Lake Qualatchee a few miles northwest of Cleveland, Georgia. I have never visited the site. Bartram's list of Cherokee towns included a ''Qualatche,'' but it was reportedly on the Flint River, too far away to have a connection with this lake. But, Mooney says a town called Qualatchee was somewhere on the headwaters of the Chattahoochee River. Not much else seems to have been written about the town, and I am not yet sure how the lake came to have its name....

Raven Cliff Falls Trail
12 miles away
The family hiked to Raven Cliff Falls on 2/15/09. It is 2.5 miles one way and is fairly level with a slight uphill slope. It follows a creek for most of the way passing several smaller scenic falls. The main feature is a towering cliff with the falls dropping between a slot in the cliffs. Very impressive and worth the 5 mile hike....

Enota Resort and Campground
13 miles away
...V camping (full hook-ups) or tent camping. The cabins are rustically charming and recently more modern motel-type rooms have been added within view of the waterfall. Some of the structures on this property are CCC-built and the staff also honors Enota's Cherokee heritage as well, with a sweat lodge, sacred circle, drumming and the occasional Native American presenter, who happened to be leading the Sweat Lodge ceremonies when we were there this spring. We discovered that Enota is a non-profit ecological and teaching facility as well, and we campers and cabin folk mingle at the weekend breakfasts in the Lodge with the staff and the volunteers who help run the campgrounds, the gardens or the animal farm. This campground has newly remodeled restrooms and plentiful showers and also has trampolines for the kids (and me!) We were there as a church retreat group was departing and they had a big group sing the evening before in the newly-enclosed pavilion. Occasionally, since I am a musician, I will even lead a sing-along around the campfire in front of the Lodge. Like I said, it's a famil...

We stayed at this campground in October 2005. It is nice camp ground and very reasonable with the cost. Grounds are well keep and it is neat and orderly. I intend to stay there this coming october. I would recommend it....

Hi!? I am looking for information.? Recently, I have been going thru old black and white photos that belong to my grandmother.? I have several dozen that are dated Easter Sunday, 1945 (April 1st).? I have being attempting determine the location where these pics were taken.? The only thing grandmother can remember is a name:? Panther Creek Park.? She thought it was somewhere around Corniela.? I found this web page while doing a search for it.? I have included some pics.? The most obvious feature in a lot of this photos is a round brick object that people seemed to spend a lot of time lounging around.? I don't know what to actually call it.? Is this the right park??...

Mike and Pam has done a beautiful job with the park. We have a place in the residential? section of Bald Mountain Park and we have to go thru the park to get to our place and each time we go up there we notice somrthing else that they have done to the park to make it look better. We used to camp alots before we got our own place,I? would say that Bald Mountain Park is one of the cleanest park that we have every camp at.?????????? KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK THAT YOU''ll ARE DOING!...This is one of the nicest campgrounds East of the Mississippi River! I have been to many! Mike and Pam have taken a run-down campground and turned it around and into one that anyone will be glad to visit. There are tons of things to see and do in the area....

Arkaquah Trail
18 miles away
Hiked this trail with a friend on Labour Day weekend 2007 and it was one of the toughest trails that we have done. Parking at Brasstown and hiking down was pretty easy and we stopped to eat at Track Rock. Going back up to Brasstown was pretty brutal even though we are both in good shape. There are few turns or forks, which is good because the trail is NOT marked in many places. We heard reports of a copperhead and yellow jackets on the trail, but only saw red tailed hawks, bugs and worms. There is no water on this trail, but its very shady, at least in the summer. The views are nice and you are advised to take your time climbing using short steady steps. Over 11 miles of hiking total and it took a good 6 hours including rest stops, eating time, pictures, etc....
