Marietta Campground is a tremendous campground nearby, and after a long day outdoors Hampton Inn Alpharetta/Roswell is a fine site to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. There are some good whitewater spots on Big Creek; naturally, this is a great region for folks who like lakes, Bartenfeld Lake is a lake close at hand. Playing golf is lots of fun at Bradshaw Farms Golf Course, and you're perhaps addicted to lakes, Great Southeastern Land Fund Lake

Near Reece Lake you find the Brookshire Creek Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail; you'll probably meet some folks from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta here. If you haven’t been to Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, you ought to schedule some time for it since you're here, and Reece Lake is a great place to visit for more than one day, Twin Lakes Park is a great place to camp nearby. Dam is a place that is in the vicinity of Reece Lake, and a nice close by hotel is Wingate by Wyndham Alpharetta. The high level of rain makes Reece Lake a pretty wet site; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain,
and October on the other hand is the driest. For the period of the summertime highs here at Reece Lake reach the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 60's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's; overnight lows in the 20's for Reece Lake.

Simmons Lake
 | 17 miles away My father had a home in the Echo Lake subdivision in the 1960's and the way I remember what happened to Simmons Lake was that that after Lakeside High School was built the earthen dam that held back Simmons Lake broke and that was pretty much the end of the lake. It wasn't repaired. The small lake next to Briarcliff Road was a separate lake that was fed from Simmons lake and in turn fed Echo Lake. This small lake appears from an aerial photograph to have nearly silted in. The culvert under Briarcliff Road from the small lake to Echo Lake was a favorite haunt for chasing snakes and turtles. I remember Echo Lake being dredged in the 1960's. Back then there was little Echo Lake at the other end of Echo Lake and it no longer exists. Little Echo Lake had a concrete dam that failed a couple of times and I suppose was given up on. The homes in Echo Lake subdivision sold in the 20-25K range. This area was a perfect place for my brother and me to spend summers. Dad told me years later that he wouldn't see us until dinner time in the summer because we spent all day doing things around these la... |
