Shoal Creek is a wonderful whitewater spot close to Rays Lake, and lakes are such serene locations, why not go to Hartwell Mica Mine Lake. You imagine that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. A good nearby hotel is Jameson Inn Hartwell, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Lake Hartwell Inn & Suites is a great place to spend a night or two. Rays Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Hart State Park       is a great local campground; you'll discover a beautiful lake called Reservoir 17. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Rays Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Camp Otaki is a pleasant spot for that; for you golfers we recommend close by Cateechee Golf Club. In the event that you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Skull Shoal Creek; why not stop by Hartwell Mica Mine Dam if you're here.                  During the warm months at Rays Lake temperatures are generally in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 50's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Rays Lake descend into the 20's.
