     If time allows, Ocmulgee National Monument is a national park worth checking out, and Days Inn Gray is a delightful location to get some rest. Whohoo, so many exciting things in one place! Ray Lake is so good! There's some out of the ordinary stuff to catch a sight of at Ray Lake Dam near Ray Lake; if the weather is delightful, you can go for a hike along the Twin Bridges Trail. If you're going to Ray Lake from Macon, you won't be the only one. Ray Lake is  
   a quite wet place mostly with a large amount of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is generally March, that's the one that rains the most, and October is the month with the least moisture.
Lakes? Sure, Washburn Lake is in the vicinity, and going for a hike along the Allison Lake Wildlife Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. There's so much to do here at Ray Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Scenic Mountain RV
 
               Park and Campground is a brilliant place for that, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit nearby Martin-Marietta Lake. Through the summertime at Ray Lake temperatures are regularly in the 80's; the nighttime is fairly chillier of course, ordinarily in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 50's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Ray Lake temperatures fall to the 30's.
This lake is so wonderful. Near Ray Lake you discover a golf course called Bowden Golf Course, and if you need a place to stay Days Inn Macon East is a tremendous choice.

Twin Bridges Trail
18 miles away
The Twin Bridges Trail is a bit strenuous and half of it is along the lake. It ends near a hunting camp where trash is dumped by campers. I really wish the trail were longer. USFS needs to consider walk-in camping with a parking area to require campers to walk 1/4 mile to the sites. The gate needs to be locked to the lakeside lots except for hunting season....
