John Currahee:
I notice that there is a Lake Qualatchee a few miles northwest of Cleveland, Georgia. I have never visited the site. Bartram's list of Cherokee towns included a ''Qualatche,'' but it was reportedly on the Flint River, too far away to have a connection with this lake. But, Mooney says a town called Qualatchee was somewhere on the headwaters of the Chattahoochee River. Not much else seems to have been written about the town, and I am not yet sure how the lake came to have its name.

This lake is so wonderful. The Raven Cliff Falls Trail offers hiking at its best; nearby you locate tremendous locations like Big Gap.                down to the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 40's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Lake Qualatchee plunge into the 20's.

Camping at Brookside Camp Ground is always a wonderful experience, and after a long day outdoors Cleveland Days Inn is a great location to spend a night or two. So many cool things to do here at Lake Qualatchee, too glorious to be true. If you're dropping by Lake Qualatchee from Cornelia, you won't be the only one.
Whohoo, so many amusing things in one place! The Blue Ridge Mountains is peerless! Whitewater paddling is perfect on Dodd Creek, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Whitly Gap Trail. Lake Qualatchee is pleasant enough to spend more than a day at, Jenny's Creek Campground is a pleasant local campground; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by nearby Lothridge Lake. All the water falling down from the sky makes Lake Qualatchee a wet spot; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is October.
