I notice that there is a Lake Qualatchee a few miles northwest of Cleveland, Georgia.ÿ I have never visited the site.ÿ Bartram's list of Cherokee towns included a ''Qualatche,'' but it was reportedly on the Flint River, too far away to have a connection with this lake.ÿ But, Mooney says a town called Qualatchee was somewhere on the headwaters of the Chattahoochee River.ÿ Not much else seems to have been written about the town, and I am not yet sure how the lake came to have its name.

Go to Lake Qualatchee if you want to go to a nice lake. Lake Qualatchee ordinarily gets lots of rain; March is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month of the year is October. After a long day outdoors Cleveland Days Inn is a delightful location to spend a night or two; Brookside Camp Ground is a good campground here. Just can't get enough of Lake Qualatchee.

| | exciting things to see. Lakes are great; Lothridge Lake is a lake that's next to Lake Qualatchee. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Lake Qualatchee is pleasant fun, Jenny's Creek Family Campground is a pleasant local campground, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Raven Cliff Falls Trail. Paddling on Dodd Creek is so much fun, and for you golfers we recommend close by Innsbruck Resort & Golf Club.

much outdoors fun things. Near Lake Qualatchee you locate good places like Big Gap, and going for a hike on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail is always a magnificent adventure. If you fancy the outdoors you'll fancy it here in
the Blue Ridge Mountains. The wonderful people of Cornelia like to hang out nearby, and Double Head is stunning and can be seen from here. Visit Joes Branch if you're here at Lake Qualatchee, and dry warm beds await you at Country

The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is always beautiful. But wait, there's more to do right next door to Lake Qualatchee. Get dripping wet paddling on Chestatee River; there is a perfect hiking trail
close by called the Whitly Gap Trail. Through the warm days of summer here at Lake Qualatchee, high temperatures usually reach the 80's; the nighttime is slightly colder of course, mostly in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Lake Qualatchee.
